Let’s Get Real, Girl💫: Girl, Open the Door! 🚪
What If the Life You’re Craving Requires You to Open a New Door?
Okay, girl… let’s get REAL.
What if the life you’re craving requires you to become open to something new?
That’s a hard one, isn’t it?
Because sometimes we find ourselves living in circumstances we simply can’t change.
We can’t change the person.
We can’t change the season.
We can’t change what has already happened.
And yet, we find ourselves wishing things were different.
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately, especially after a conversation with one of my daughters.
It reminded me of something I’ve learned over and over again in my own life:
We may not always be able to change our circumstances, but we can change ourselves within them.
We can change how we respond.
We can change our habits.
We can change what we’re saying yes to-and what we’re finally willing to say no to.
We can change the way we talk to ourselves.
We can change the choices we make each day.
And sometimes, we can become open to new people, new communities, new conversations and new opportunities.
People change. Seasons change. And we change, too.
Think about who you were 30 years ago.
Then 20 years ago.
Even one year ago.
Are you the same woman?
Probably not.
And that’s a beautiful thing.
Growth means we don’t stay exactly where we started.
As we grow-especially in our relationship with God-our values, priorities, interests and desires can change.
And sometimes, the people we once naturally connected with aren’t necessarily the people who will walk alongside us in every season.
That doesn’t mean those relationships weren’t meaningful.
It doesn’t mean you have to walk away from people you love.
It simply means there may be room for new relationships that support the woman you’re becoming.
Maybe you need friendships with women who share your values.
Women who encourage your faith.
Women who understand the season you’re in.
Women who challenge you-in a good way-to grow.
Women who are walking in a direction that aligns with where you believe God is leading you.
And girl, that may require you to open a new door.
I know this personally.
The woman I am TODAY is very different from the woman I was 10, 20, 30 years ago.
And honestly?
Even different from a year ago.
I’m still deeply connected to the people I love.
But I’ve also learned to open new doors.
And those doors have brought new women into my life.
New friendships.
New conversations.
New opportunities.
New perspectives.
And experiences that have helped me continue growing-not only as a woman, but in my faith and in the woman I believe God is calling me to become.
Sometimes the new thing isn’t about replacing what you already have.
It’s about making room for what God may be bringing next.
So what about you?
Maybe you’re in a season where something feels stuck.
Maybe you’ve been waiting for your circumstances to change.
Maybe you’ve been wishing someone else would change.
Maybe you’ve been holding tightly to what is familiar because stepping into something new feels uncomfortable-or even a little scary.
But what if the invitation isn’t to wait?
What if it’s to take one step?
Maybe it’s a new friendship.
Maybe it’s a new community.
Maybe it’s an opportunity you’ve been afraid to pursue.
Maybe it’s creating a new habit.
Maybe it’s finally setting a boundary.
Maybe it’s walking away from something that no longer aligns with the woman you’re becoming.
Or maybe it’s simply giving yourself permission to become someone you’ve never been before.
You don’t have to abandon your past to embrace your future.
You can be grateful for where you’ve been while still being excited about where you’re going.
You can love the people who have been part of your story while becoming open to the people God may bring into your next chapter.
You can honor the woman you were while becoming the woman you are called to be.
Your one brave step this week
Girl, name one new door you will open this week.
Write it down: “This week, I will open the door to __________.”
Maybe it’s reaching out to someone new, trying something different, setting a needed boundary or saying yes to an opportunity that stretches you.
Then take one small, faithful step.
You don’t need to see the whole path-just the next step.
Stay prayerful, stay willing and trust that God can meet you on the other side.
Your next chapter may begin with one brave yes. đź’«
Blessings,
